My Plans for WoW: Forever
Posted on
On November 4th, Blizzard is releasing a new flavor of World of Warcraft called WoW: Forever.
I’ve been playing WoW on and off since Vanilla. My most recent stretch was on the “Classic Anniversary” servers, which started with the Vanilla content and then moved into The Burning Crusade. I had a blast, leveling a bunch of characters but maining a Gnome Mage. I stopped playing during TBC. Part of it was general WoW burnout and boredom, but I was also frustrated with the economy, the bots, the real-money trading, and the community’s expectation that you were buying gold to afford min/maxed consumables and enchants for raids.
WoW: Forever is the long-rumored “Classic Plus,” but after watching the announcements, it feels much more like Retail Minus to me, and I hate Retail. I have major worries about the art direction and its consistency, the ongoing bot and gold problems, and the general toxicity of the WoW community. Nonetheless, I am rolling a new character.
I think I’m going to play a Tauren Druid with an interest in healing, but I’ll likely jump around specs, as Druids tend to do. I’m going to pick the PvP ruleset. I don’t do a ton of world PvP, but I enjoy the threat it adds to the world. On my very first character, I was on a PvE server. I was in a cave, I saw players from the opposing faction, and I could not attack them. It really broke the immersion for me. Ever since, I’ve almost always rolled PvP, with the rare RP exception when I just want to vibe.
Anyway, if you find yourself playing, feel free to reach out and say hi. My BattleTag is zorn711#1373.
